impressive stone stands near the Stones of Stenness

To the NW of the Stones
of Stenness, at the southern edge of the Bridge of Brodgar, stands the
Watch Stone, 5.6 m (18 ft) tall and with an interesting name.
This standing
stone probably had some connection with the nearby Stenness henge. Some theories say
that once this menhir was part of a series of standing stones that linked Ring of Brodgar
with the Stones
of Stenness.
