This
stalled chamber was built within a sub-rectangular mound on a terrace above
a steep slope, on the island of Rousay (Orkney). The external appearance
and roof are modern protective additions. The chamber is 7.3m long and 1.7m
wide.
A 4m long passage enters the chamber from the south-east. The chamber is
divided into three compartments; the innermost one is twice the size of
the others and is divided into two by low upright slabs.
The site was excavated in 1934. The bones of at least 29 adults were found,
17 represented only by skulls. Along with a large number of flint knives
and scrapers, the remains of at least 36 red deer were found. In care of Historic Scotland
