STANDING STONE
Stone of Setter image

With its height of 4.5m, it is the tallest single standing stone in Orkney. Its distinctive profile, similar to a hand, is the result of deep weathering of its upper part. The monolith faces north-south.
Its thickness varies from 19cm at its base to 35cm in the middle. Nearby there are traces of other structures. The monolith is covered by at least seven species of lichens.
A Heritage Walk links the standing stone with two ruined chambered cairns (Braeside and Huntersquoy) and with the fine Vinquoy tomb on the summit of Vinquoy Hill.
