In
a modern housing estate in New Scone (Tayside), surrounded by flowers and
trees, there is a small stone circle. It is 5.4m in diameter and its seven
stones are graded in height, with the tallest to the south-west.
Once there were two circles, now only the western one survives.
During excavations in 1961 a cinerary urn in a small pit was found at the
centre of the ring.
The site has been dated as being at the end of the Bronze Age, between 800-500
BC. |
