CHAMBERED CAIRN |
|||||||||||||||||||||
Chamber, antechamber and passage were excavated in 1967 and they have been refilled for safety reasons. But the lintel slabs of the entrance (visible in the photo), are still clear. Just to the north, on the summit of the hill, there are the bare remains of a second, earlier chambered cairn, Ord South. An Archaeological Trail starting from the Ferrycroft Countryside Centre goes to both sites: apart from these two chambered cairns, a large number of Bronze Age hut circles with their field-system and a large burnt mound are scattered on the slopes of the hill. |
