(Na Tri Shean) CHAMBERED CAIRN |
|||||||||||||||||||||
In the photo, the 70m long cairn is seen from the top of its 2m high north-west end. On the opposite side, the 3m high south-east mound is visible. There are several slabs projecting from the cairn material. The long cairn appears to be the product of two independent heeled-shaped and horned cairns linked by a low mound. The local name Na Tri Shean means 'The Three Fairy Mounds'. A similar chambered tomb (Cnoc Freiceadain North) lies a few metres to the north. The two cairns are set at right angles to each other.
