In
a field on the north side of River Lyon (Perth and Kinross) are the remains
of three stone settings. They were probable stone circles (two four-posters
and one reminiscent of a recumbent stone circle).
The northernmost setting comprises three rounded boulders, out of a probable
eight, originally arranged in a rectangular setting, with the largest stones
at the corners.
In the second setting four boulders are still visible but there were originally
eight. In the last one (in the photo) three stones survive, a central massive
boulder flanked by two taller uprights, as in recumbent stone circles.
The site was excavated in 1970. |
