These
two standing stones are the terminal orthostats of an almost totally ruined
chambered cairn. They are 2m and 2.7m high respectively and their red granite
creates a striking colour difference with the white boulders of the cairn.
The site lies in a spectacular position, on a strip of land between Loch
of Housetter to the east and the precipitous hillside of Beorgs of Housetter
to the west.
Some 90m to the north there is a ruined round cairn of pink granite boulders
locally known as Trowie Knowe (Fairy Mound). And on the steep slope of Beorgs
of Housetter there is another small chambered cairn.
