Ancient settlement discovered in Georgia
The satellite images from space have allowed Georgian archaeologists to discover an ancient settlement in Shiraki (Kakheti region, Eastern Georgia). The first phase of archaeological research will be completed in the coming days. Afterwards, large-scale excavations are planned.
If the assumptions of archaeologists are confirmed, the discovered ancient settlement will completely change the history of the country, Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi University Professor Kote Pitskhelauri said. According to the experts, the settlement dates back to the 10-12 centuries BCE. It may be the capital of the ancient state, which is not mentioned in historical sources.
