Megalithic tombs unearthed in India

B. Balamohan and K.R. Sona of Thrissur Archaeological Museum confirmed that the Dayanada Ashram at Puliyankad near Kollengode (Palakkad district of Kerala state, south India) is the site of a megalithic settlement. The site contains port-hole cists dating from 1000 BCE to 200 CE. During their visit, they identified three cists and traces of more within the compound. The secondary burials consist of bones stored in the cists alongside parts of weapons, beads and other items. Excavation and further investigation of the cists will take place after the monsoon time.
